Arrival of Stagecoach Crew to Mount Sunflower - campout the next 2 nights onsite

Saturday, May 18th, 2024

Preparation:

 On May 17th and 18th, the public is invited to come and visit with the stagecoach crew and view their setup. 

 

Throughout the journey, there will be two campsites. One will be time-period, and available for photographers for capture the historic mood. The other will be modern for those who wish to participate from their campers or tents. Singer-songwriter Barry Ward will be sharing authentic music at the nightly campfires throughout the Journey. All musicians are welcome to join in!

All who participate on the rides must sign a waiver of liability.

Monday, May 20th, 2024

From Goose Creek to historic Rose Creek Ranch(once owned by Scout William Comstock) - 1015 Road 22, Sharon Springs, KS

            10:00 AM MT - Entire crew drives past Prairie Village Retirement Home and makes extended visit at Hope Springs Care Home

            10:45 AM MT - Entire crew will stop behind Sharon Springs USD #241 School to visit with schoolchildren and share pen-pal letters from 3rd-5th Grade Students in Missouri

            11:15 AM MT - Entire crew will stop at the Sharon Springs Methodist Church to visit with Vacation Bible School students and staff

            11:45 AM MT - Entire crew will parade south on Main Street on the way to the Frasier Rose Creek Ranch

            6:00 PM MT - All students and families are invited to have a light supper at the Rose Creek Ranch - 1015 Road 22, Sharon Springs, KS

Tuesday, May 21st, 2024

From Rose Creek to Pond Creek Station (from Hwy 40, take Road 26 south approximately 1 mile, then turn west at the flag to campsite)

There will be a public Chuckwagon Feed (catered by award-winning Doc Jones and family) and pictures taken on location.

Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024

Pond Creek to Russell Springs (camp in Porter City Park)

Crew will be fed, public is invited to bring picnic supper and enjoy the campfire

Thursday, May 23rd, 2024

Russell Springs to Smoky Y Ranch/German Family Massacre Site Camp out near Ranch Headquarters

Friday, May 24th, 2024

Smoky Y Ranch through Smoky Valley Ranch/Nature Conservancy - This section is limited to horse traffic and a couple of support vehicles only.

The public is invited to view the Stagecoach Journey from established trails at Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park. There will be wonderful photo opportunities near the formations. All ride participants on this leg must sign an additional waiver of liability with the Nature Conservancy.
